The Archbishop is the head of the Chancery which is essentially the headquarters for the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese. The word Chancery is the traditional name for the administrative arm of a Diocese or Archdiocese. It is responsible for the official documents pertaining to the ecclesiastical affairs of the Church (e.g. dispensations for marriage, faculties for visiting priests) and regulating the policies of the Archdiocese. In addition, the office manages records and maintains communication with the Vatican.
