WHO WE ARE: 
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ottawa–Cornwall is an archdiocese that includes part of the Province of Ontario and the suffragan dioceses of Hearst, Pembroke, and Timmins.  On 6 May 2020, Pope Francis amalgamated the Archdiocese of Ottawa and the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall to create the Archdiocese of Ottawa–Cornwall.  The Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall is a religious, non-for-profit organization that serves 525,387 Catholics in 127 parishes.

SUMMARY: 
Reporting to the Archbishop, the Chief Administrative Officer, “CAO”, leads the administrative efforts of the Archdiocese and provides support and guidance to the parishes so that they may practice the required stewardship required by both Canon and Civil law. This position has the responsibility to ensure that the financial and business activities of the Archdiocese serve and support the objectives of the Archdiocese’s Pastoral Plan and Mission Ministry. As a member of the Archdiocese’s senior leadership team, the CAO will be called to participate in discussions on the Pastoral Plan and Mission Ministry.

Reporting Relationships: 
The following positions report to the CAO: Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Human Resources Manager, Property Manager, Senior Project Manager, Planning and Properties, Safe Environment Advisor, Executive Assistant Diocesan Administration, and Director of Cemeteries.

Our ideal candidate will be a highly capable individual ready to assume responsibility for managing the day-to-day operations of the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall, projects, and employees. The individual will have proven organizational, human resource and budget management experience and skill sets, but will also be a consummate “people person” - an experienced mentor keen to help managers and teams be the best they can be. They will exhibit thought leadership in navigating the new ‘hybrid’ world of work to maximize employee engagement, productivity, retention, and happiness.

Responsibilities AND TASKS:

• Prepare, manage, and execute an asset management program for all facilities owned or leased by the Archdiocese.
• Administer the policies of the Archdiocese in a fair and equitable manner.
• Recommend policy adjustments or new policies to the Archbishop for consideration based upon best practices and in accordance with both Cannon and Civil laws.
• Ensure, in conjunction with the CFO, that regulatory and financial requirements of all authorities are met in a timely manner.
• Recommend an annual financial budget and, in conjunction with the CFO, supervise adherence to the approved budget, as it may be amended with the approval of the Archbishop.
• Administer the various Diocesan Trust Funds and pension plans.
• Provide overall leadership and supervision of staff and establish a succession plan, in cooperation with the Human Resources Manager which promotes advancement.
• Establish a culture of support for the parishes of the Archdiocese as they deal with a declining volunteer base and an increasing need to evangelize.
• Ensure that appropriate insurance and risk management is in place to protect all assets of the Archdiocese,
• Interface with other Catholic Dioceses as requested by the Archbishop.
• Develop and set in execution a 5-year operating plan for the Archdiocese.
• Make recommendations to improve systems and processes.

• Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, and must know, profess and act consistently in accordance with the doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church.
• A highly organized and experienced operations leader with proven enterprise and leadership skills.
• 8 + experience demonstrating increasing seniority in organizational, and people management, as well as asset management and budgeting.
• BSc/BA in business administration or equivalent professional experience.
• Knowledge of Real estate management is an asset.
• The ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with diocesan employees (both unionized and non-unionized), clergy, parishes, volunteers, boards, and committees, as well as external stakeholders.
• Someone who is highly organized and meticulous, yet also flexible and nimble in the face of unexpected events and requirements. Someone who can handle multi-tasking and is able to responsively re-prioritize as required.
• Someone who understands that the best supervisors are also coaches and has a positive attitude that inspires others. Someone whose colleagues and supervisors will confirm their outstanding capabilities for problem solving trustworthiness and reliability.
• The ability to interpret by-laws, current legislation, acts, and regulations.
• Strong public speaking and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English and French.
• A solid understanding of HR, accounting, financing, and budget preparation.
• Must demonstrate advanced digital literacy and ability to work with/administer online platforms and toolsets that facilitate online organizational work.
• Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the workings of the Catholic Church

• Full Time: 37.5 hours per week,
