SUMMARY: 

The position of Director Philanthropic Development will report directly to the Chief Administrative Office (CAO) and will work out of our Ottawa office located at 1209 Michael St. in Ottawa.

In this role, you will be asked to engage people from all walks of life to give in a way that is aligned with the social teachings of the Church related to charity, generosity, and care for every human’s well-being to help build a more just society.

RESPONSABILITIES AND TASKS

What we will give you the opportunity to do:

• Create and implement a multi-year philanthropic development plan that increases revenues and awareness to support the strategic direction and Mission of the Archdiocese.
• Prepare and provide monthly progress reports to the CAO.
• Provide briefing papers, recommendations, and perspectives about fundraising and development to the CAO.
• Collect and manage information regarding donors using our database.
• Supervise and coordinate activities within the Archdiocese that generate revenues.
• Shares information/ideas clearly and listens for understanding to promote a productive work relationships.
• Conduct research on fundraising opportunities.
• Write funding proposals and submit these to potential donors.
• Work closely with the CAO and the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to prepare the budget for fundraising and development.
• Implement a variety of marketing strategies and promotional campaigns, with an emphasis on planned giving initiatives.
• Organize and attend non-profit events and network with relevant stakeholders.
• Cultivate meaningful relationships with all donors and potential donors.
• Plan, manage, monitor, and evaluate all fundraising events that are linked to the Archdiocese’s objectives.
• Monitor trends in Canada, Ontario, and the Ottawa-Cornwall Regions to adapt the fundraising strategies as necessary.
• Work with Director of Communication and Mission promotion for a common messaging.

• Minimum of 3-5 years working in fundraising or fund development.
• Undergraduate degree and certification in fund development, non-profit management, public relations, or marketing preferred.
• Professional, responsive, and positive work attitude is essential.
• Commitment and ability to understand and articulate the Mission and vision of the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall.
• Proven ability to lead, develop and implement fundraising initiatives.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skill in developing donor relationships.
• Knowledge and experience in all areas of funding, including annual giving, events, major gifts, grants, and planned giving.
• Proven track record in Major Donor fundraising strategy.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in developing and implementing public relations, communications, and marketing strategies.
• Strong written and verbal presentation and communication skills.
• Excellent demonstrated interpersonal and relationship skills.
• Member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License, adequate liability insurance, and access to a vehicle is necessary to go out and meet potential donors.
• Bilingual, English and French, preferred.

• Permanent full-time.
• 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with flexibility of work time between office hours and after-hours activities in order to perform duties.
