Money, and more importantly asking for money, can be uncomfortable topic. No doubt we have worked hard for what we have and sometimes it's difficult to part with our money. However, we must never forget that God has in fact given us everything. In many of the Gospel stories we are warned to be careful that we do not let riches beome the most important thing in our life.
Pope Francis reminds us that, “charity is at the heart of the church, it is the reason for its action, the soul of its mission.” As Catholics it is our duty to help those in need, and often that takes the form of financial giving.
We all have our own unique financial circumstances and responsibilities. For this reason, the amount of our donation is not as important as how much of ourself we give. Does our financial giving reflect our trust in God, our trust that He will provide what we need?
Monies raised by the Archdiocese provide means to support the work of the local Catholic Church in a variety of areas including family, faith enrichment, youth and young adults, clergy formation and vocations.
