Indigenous Relations

We keep in mind that Reconciliation is not a problem to be solved, but rather a journey to be lived willingly with an open mind and open heart.

The Archdiocesan Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Peoples Relations Committee's mandate is to:

• recognize and support Indigenous pastoral leadership in the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall 
• support current and future initiatives in the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall that serve reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. These initiatives include (but are not limited to) listening circles, educational programs and learning processes for bettering our relationships.

Structure of the Committee
The Committee is composed of Indigenous and non-Indigenous pastoral leaders from the community for a two-year term. The Committee is co-chaired with one of the Chairs drawn from a representative of Kateri Native Ministry and the other is a representative of the Archdiocese of Ottawa Cornwall.
