Project Manager – Real Estate and Facilities

WHO WE ARE
The Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation of Ottawa (RCECO) is the civil, not-for-profit corporation that owns over 125 churches and more importantly serves a half million Catholics in Eastern Ontario. The Real Estate and Facilities (REF) department maintains Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall properties, plans major projects, and assist the parishes with their capital and maintenance projects.

• Review portfolio of properties annually, summarize issues, plan capital projects
• In collaboration with the Director, define project parameters, obtain required consultants.
• Plan, schedule, organize, direct, control and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and within budget.
• Handle project administration, including cost control, schedule control and change order administration.
• Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates.
• Organize logistics, delegate work and keep track of spending.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a keen focus on product adoption, client satisfaction and time to value.
• Facilitate meetings to discuss requirements, present solutions and make recommendations.
• Identify, communicate, and mitigate project risks, escalating major issues to management team.
• Identify and resolve conflicts within project teams and associate work; create contingency plans to mitigate risk.
• Manage project dependencies.
• Update management on progress and budgets of assigned projects as required.
• Observe that safe work practices are being followed
• Resolve contractual issues and ensure they are dealt with in a timely manner
• Primary liaison with site superintendents and contractors
• Conduct project postmortems in order to identify areas for improvement; make recommendations based on findings.
• Maintain document records on file server.
• Schedule and supervise the work of in-house maintenance, and sub-contractors, as needed in coordination with Manager of Real Estate and Office Services.
• Develop and implement schedules and procedures for safety inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
• Ensure that building inspection procedures and preventive maintenance programs are followed and respected.
• Build and maintain professional rapport with clients (Parishes)
• Interpret policies as required.
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

• A professional degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field is preferred but candidates with a diploma in said fields will be considered coupled with their experience.
• A minimum 5 years of direct work experience in construction project management.
• A love of architecture and the built environment with the desire to improve it
• A creative mindset rooted in comprehensive building construction knowledge
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans
• A solid understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques
• Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills
• Effectiveness in the areas of construction safety and productivity
• Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation
• Commitment to working in a team environment, with established team building abilities
• Strong communication, leadership, integration, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work safely in a construction environment
• Understanding fundamentals of contracts and experience in managing contractors under the terms of a contract
• Knowledge of OH&S regulations and related building codes
• Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods.
• Highly effective negotiation, diplomatic, and conflict resolutions skills.
• Ability to create and facilitate meetings, feedback sessions, and briefings in order to create consensus among stakeholders.
• Able to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including laborers, technical, professional, and upper management.
• Able to effectively communicate accurately both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (Excel, Word, Outlook etc.)
• Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset
• Knowledge of MS Project is an asset.
• Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.

• Full-Time: 40 hours per week (including 30 min unpaid lunch break).
• Permanent Contract
• Work in a professional shared office environment.
• Travel to various locations will be required
• Physical ability to lift up to 50lb
• Overtime as required
• Work both indoors and outdoors
• Will be exposed to construction sites
• Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
