The Senior Cemetery Counsellor is responsible for welcoming families, selling burial rights, and selling cemetery services and supplies. The Counsellor must also carry out the administrative follow-up of these sales, ensure the proper planning of the ceremonies and ensure the transmission of information to the field team.
Specific Duties
Customer Relations
Greet clients and families who come to the cemetery
Make appointments and organize your schedule
Proceed with the sale of funeral arrangements and pre-arrangements
Prepare the required contracts and assemble the files
Transfer internment rights: ensure that the necessary legal documents are deposited at the cemetery (Will, Power of Attorney, Affidavit, etc.)
Be able to offer precise estimates for the various services and products (inscriptions, monuments, flat markers, cleaning of a monument under the base, etc.)
Be knowledgeable of the general rules of the cemetery
Relations with the field team
Complete work requisitions for the cemetery manager or superintendent, as well as suppliers and service providers (engravers, headstone retailers, etc.)
Transmit the documents in accordance with the various requests
Administration and Accounting
Answer phone calls, reply to correspondence and ensure appropriate follow-up
Ensure required follow-up of sales activities (receivables, classification)
Prepare payments and codify invoices for accounts payable
Scanning and filing of documents
Handling archived documents
Sorting of documents
Enter data into computerized databases, spreadsheets or other
Required Skills
High school diploma; post-secondary education in a related field is an asset
2 years of experience in a similar field and/or 2 years of experience in customer service and sales
Good knowledge of accounting
Ability to communicate orally and in writing in both official languages (English and French)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of Simply Accounting is an asset
Be able to demonstrate great compassion and dignity
Be able to work alone and as part of a team
Know how to take initiative when necessary
Have good communication skills
Knowledge of the Catholic Church and its teachings is an asset.
NOTE: The successful candidate must be able to obtain a sales representative's license issued by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario which includes a criminal records check.
Hours of Work
Permanent full-time position at 40 hours per week (including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)
8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday (Saturdays on occasion)
Salary As per current collective agreement
